EMBARK awards the construction bid for a new public parking garage to Manhattan Construction Company.
August 2, 2019
A resolution was approved Friday during EMBARK’s August boarding meeting awarding the construction bid for a new public parking garage to Manhattan Construction Company.
A nationally-ranked firm with offices in Oklahoma City, Manhattan submitted proposals alongside three other companies for the project, with the awarded bid set at $23,581,030.89. Early estimates for the project had been previously projected at $28,800,000.
Manhattan will work with The Architecture Partnership (TAP) for construction of the six-level, 1,100 space garage, which could eventually be expanded to up to 1,400 spaces as demand grows. The facility will be located at 15 SW 4th St., in a developing area of the urban core south of the soon-to-open Scissortail Park. The garage will eventually service the future Omni Convention Center Hotel and MAPS3 Convention Center, Boulevard Place (a mixed-use project in development), Chesapeake Arena, and more, as well as providing office space for parking operations.
With multiple projects in progress in the works spanning from Scissortail Park to the shores of the Oklahoma River, the approved construction bid marks an important milestone in the development of the new Park Union district in downtown Oklahoma City.
Construction is projected to take 12 months to complete, with the opening closely linked to the openings of the Omni Hotel and the MAPS3 Convention Center.
