EMBARK expands Climb Ride program to include Pivot

EMBARK is expanding its award-winning Climb Ride program to support youth ages 17 to 24 participating in Pivot's Transitional Living Program (TLP).

The partnership provides participants with free rides to school, doctor's appointments, work, job interviews, and other essential destinations, making it easier for them to focus on long-term goals rather than the basic need for transportation.

“EMBARK is excited to expand our Climb Ride program to Pivot’s transition-age youth,” EMBARK Mobility Management Coordinator Dr. Marilyn Dillon said. “It’s an opportunity to demonstrate the power of collaborative efforts to improve the lives of these young people as they enter the workforce or seek educational opportunities.”

Pivot clients can participate in the Climb Ride program by meeting with EMBARK’S Mobility Programs Coordinator for an orientation. The initiative aims to eliminate transportation as a barrier for youth.

The project is funded by a grant from the Arnall Family Foundation, supported by EMBARK’s Mobility Management Division, in partnership with the Oklahoma Mobility Institute.

“Climb Ride has been an absolute game-changer for me,” said a youth who participated in the pilot program. “The flexibility and reliability ensures that I’m never late to work, allowing me to focus on my job without the stress of transportation barriers. This program has opened doors to better-paying opportunities and has truly empowered me in my career journey. The commitment they show to helping individuals succeed is remarkable, and I am beyond grateful for their support.”

Partnership background

The partnership between Pivot and EMBARK began in 2023, with both organizations recognizing the need to address transportation challenges faced by youth experiencing some level of homelessness. The program was started with a smaller, more stable group to test feasibility. The youth from Pivot’s Transitional Living Program (ages 17-24) became the pilot participants.

The pilot program launched with 10 participants in October 2024 and expanded to include the rest of the Pivot youth in December 2024. The feedback from the youth has been overwhelmingly positive, with many citing the increased independence and access to essential services that the program provides.
